Barca defends the league lead in La Liga. If only with ach and noise! In the city derby, FC Barcelona conceded the 2-2 at the last (!) Espanyol shortly before the end.
First, the outsider cheers, David López (23) shoots Espanyol for the half-time lead. But shortly after the restart, Luis Suárez strikes and hits to equalize (55.). Nine minutes later, ex-Bayern professional Arturo Vidal turns the derby with his header to make it 2-1 – already his 6th goal this season.
But calm does not return, from the 79th minute FC Barcelona is suddenly only ten on the pitch. Dutchman Frenkie de Jong sees yellow-red after two tactical fouls. And the majority use the taillight: The Chinese Lei Wu, who came on only in the 74th, hits late for the 2-2 final score (88th).
Thanks to the better goal difference (+26), Barca remains at the top of the table ahead of Real Madrid (+24), who are tied for points. Espanyol is still at the bottom, but the point win against the big favorite should provide a boost in the relegation battle.
