FC Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen out for 2.5 months after knee surgery | NOW

Marc-André ter Stegen was successfully operated on his knee on Tuesday. The German keeper will not be able to take action for about 2.5 months, his club reports FC Barcelona.

The 28-year-old Ter Stegen had been suffering from the joint for several months, but postponed the operation until the end of the season. The football year ended for Barcelona on Friday with the 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Due to his operation, Ter Stegen will miss the opening phase of the new season. The first round of La Liga is scheduled for the weekend of September 12.

Presumably FC Barcelona will arrive later on Tuesday to announce that Ronald Koeman is the successor of trainer Quique Setién, who was fired on Monday.

With the 31-year-old Brazilian Neto, the club still has an experienced goalkeeper in the selection. The young goalkeepers Iñaki Peña (21 years old) and Arnau Tenas (19) also belong to the group of players.
