This Sunday, May 21, around 7 a.m., a terrible accident occurred on the RD 700 in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, between a police vehicle and a driver positive for cannabis and alcohol who was traveling in the wrong direction, reports BFM TV. This young man of 24 years, as well as three police forces died on the spot. Two other people were injured: the 23-year-old passenger of the civilian vehicle and a 16-year-old girl present in the back of the police car which was transported following an alleged sexual assault.

This Monday at 5:30 p.m., the Lille prosecutor gave a press conference. She notably declared that Cédric O., the driver of the Alfa Romeo who hit the police car, had “a blood alcohol level of 2.08 g” and was “cannabis positive”. “A cross-examination was requested to stabilize the results,” she added.
Cedric. O “had already been convicted for common law offenses but not for traffic offences”, she continued.
She also confirmed the hypothesis of the “frontal collision between the two vehicles” thanks to surveillance cameras and the speeches of witnesses. Expertise in accidentology is underway “to reproduce the circumstances of the accident, the speed, the trajectory and the safety conditions”.
30 km/h over the limit
“The speedometer” of the civilian car, an Alfa Romeo, “stuck just below 120 km / h”, according to the prosecutor. The road on which the vehicle was traveling was “limited to 90 km / h”.
In addition, the vital prognosis of Gatien D., the 23-year-old passenger of the Alfa Romeo, is still engaged. He too was known for drug-related cases.
A firefighter files a complaint following insults during the intervention
In parallel with the press conference of the prosecutor of Lille, BFM TV revealed that a firefighter filed a complaint this Sunday, with the support of the departmental fire and rescue service of the North, following suspicions of insults from Gatien D.
