The artist has passed away as a result of health problems caused by Covid-19, the family confirmed. During his lifetime, he fell asleep at the Niji Hospital near the Seine, near Paris.
“With deep sadness Kenzo “Takada has learned of the death of its founder,” the fashion house said in a statement.
Takada was known for its fashion brands as well as perfumery and skin care products.
The fashion artist was born in Japan on February 27, 1939, but almost all of his career took place in France.
In 1993, he sold his brand to the French luxury goods corporation LVMH.
Paris Mayor Anna Idalgo said on Twitter that the city is “mourning for one of its sons”.
In fashion, Kendzo Takada created a space for color and light, Idalgo pointed out.
