Farmers for a meeting with Mitsotakis: “It was a fiasco” – 2024-03-29 11:10:16

Without “substantial answers” to their demands, the farmers of Thessaly left the Maximos Palace, as stated by the president of the United Federation of Agricultural Associations of Larisa, Rizos Maroudas, after the meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

As it became known, following the contacts, there will be a new meeting of the prime minister, with representatives of the institutional bodies of the agricultural sector of Thessaly, next Friday, March 15, where the meeting will take place at the Maximos Palace.

Christos and Thomas Moschos spoke on the MEGA weekend about the Prime Minister’s meeting with the farmers. “The whole meeting was a fiasco, because the prime minister did not commit to anything,” they said.

Regarding what changes should be made to the Common Agricultural Policy they pointed out: “The way the CAP is made now it risks blowing up on its own because if there is cross-checking and they understand in Europe that beef, that is red meat, gets twice a subsidy, automatically this is considered illegal and must be abolished”.

“People who do not know what is a goat and what is a sheep are making agricultural policy”, commented Thomas Moschos. Regarding the course of prices, the breeders estimated that they are not going to change and added “prices especially after June will increase”.
