The last farewell to the co-founder of the music group Elán Vašo Patejdle will take place on August 30 in Prague. The public can also come to say goodbye to the Slovak singer, keyboardist and lyricist, who died on Saturday, August 19 after a serious illness. The musician’s wife Miluše Patejdlová announced this in a press statement on Monday.

The farewell will be held from 2 p.m. in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Strahov.
“Vašo greatly respected his friends, but also his fans and well-wishers. Both his closest friends and colleagues, as well as the general public, will have the opportunity to say goodbye to him, for which space will be reserved in the courtyard of the Strahov Monastery,” said Patejdlová.

At the same time, she thanked everyone for their support and the Central Military Hospital for their care. According to her, Patejdl’s death was sudden and unexpected.
“My husband was struck unexpectedly, and above all completely secretly, by a very insidious disease. His departure was caused by the overall exhaustion of the organism during the progression of an insidious malignant disease of the pancreas. “The doctors announced the diagnosis to him 14 days before that fateful day,” she said.
One of Patejdl’s last performances was a concert at the Venátská festival on July 27 this year! in the village of Liberec.
The Elán group then planned two concerts next year – in Prague and Bratislava. The reason for the one-time return was to celebrate the 70th birthday of frontman Jožo Ráž and Patejdl.
Patejdl, who was born on October 10, 1954 in Karlovy Vary, also collaborated with the Slovak singer Richard Müller, for whom he composed the hit Po schodoch.
He also created the music for the film Fontána pro Zuzana from 1986 or for the film fairy tale Seven Crows from 2015. He has received numerous awards for his work.
