Besides Ella Leyers, El Bastani also dresses other famous Flemish people. For one and a half years she has also been working with Open VLD politician Sihame El Kaouakibi, for example. The outfit on the cover of her new book was carefully chosen by her: “As with any styling, it starts with a conversation. In the end we opted for a golden look. It really is a power outfit. That’s who she is, so that’s it I dressed her. ”
Thanks in part to her work for those famous heads, more and more people are finding their way to the work of the young stylist. El Bastani, who herself has Moroccan roots, sees her growing fame as an opportunity to be a role model. She herself says she missed role models as a teenager. “Partly because of this, I made the wrong choice after secondary school to study something that I actually didn’t like. Role models are necessary and I might be able to assume that role for other people.”
