Good news for all fantasy movie fans. According to The Digital Fix, next year all six films from the “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” series will be released on CDs, with the best picture quality in 4K today. Such an unexpected gift will be timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. It’s hard to believe, but the film was released in 2001.
New versions of your favorite films will become truly huge, the collection will include both directorial and theatrical versions of paintings, as well as a decent amount of additional materials from the set.
Unfortunately, not all film actors have lived to this momentous moment. More recently, actor Ian Holm died, playing the role of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
