Sony announces Ghostbusters: Afterlife another part of the popular cult series. After the big hit with Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy as female ghost hunters in 2016, the studio is working with the team from the original series on another film that directly adapts to the iconic comedies from the 1980s with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson will tie in. The cinema release date was postponed to November 11th due to the Corona crisis.

The action takes place around 30 years after the last film and is about a single mother who moves to a small town in Oklahoma with her two children. After the death of her father, whom she never got to know, she moves into her old parents’ house. When their two children Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) examine the property, they come across a remarkable discovery: The complete equipment of the ghost hunters as well as their iconic Ecto-1 emergency vehicle.
The evidence does not allow any other conclusion that the grandfather of the two children is none other than Egon Sprengler (played by the late Harold Ramis). The up-and-coming ghost hunters soon encounter supernatural phenomena and follow in the footsteps of their grandfather.

Much to the delight of the fans, a Reunion with the original cast consisting of Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, who slip into their familiar roles.
