The family of Kevin Janssen from Lommel wants more information about the investigation and has now hired a lawyer. 29-year-old Kevin was beaten up by a group of teenagers in Lommel. The senseless violence against the young man with a mental disability leaves no one unmoved. There are statements of support for Kevin from all over the country.

The main suspect is a 15-year-old boy. But the police and the public prosecutor do not want to lose more to the family. And Kevin’s family doesn’t really understand that. “I understand that those people have to conduct an investigation, but that we are completely out in the cold, don’t get to hear anything new or information or the like … Not even to the perpetrator, nothing, nothing at all,” says Joeri. Janssen, Kevin’s brother. “It is said that an appropriate measure has been taken. But what is that measure? We don’t know. It is exactly as if we were assigned to conduct our own research. For the rest we know nothing, nothing, nothing. ”

VTM NEWS tried to speak to the minor’s lawyer, but he does not know. The mayor of Lommel, Bob Nijs (CD&V), also does not want to say anything about it, precisely because the perpetrator is so young.

Support and fundraising
But the senseless violence affects all of Flanders. In fact, more than 3,000 euros has already been collected to pay for Kevin’s medical costs. On May 2, a procession of motorcyclists will also pass by Kevin’s house.

Joeri Janssen is moved by the support: “It’s unbelievable that today people still want to do all of this. Getting that all set up and certainly in times of corona. Heartwarming, I can’t say more about it. ”
