“Family Experiences Terror as Thieves Steal Truck with Baby and Elderly Woman Inside”

NEW YORK – Terror was experienced by a family after two suspects stole their truck with a baby and a 73-year-old woman inside, New York Police said.

Authorities say the two suspected thieves ran into a parked Toyota RAV4 Sunday morning in the Parkchester section moments after the driver got out at a store near Olmstead Avenue y Unionport Road.

Three passengers aged 73, 37 and 1 year old were sitting inside the vehicle.

The 37-year-old woman managed to escape and get out of the car without injury when the robbers arrived, police said, but the other two victims were trapped inside the car as the suspects fled in it.

Fortunately, the nightmare journey was brief. The baby and the woman got out of the car a few blocks away, near Rosedale Avenue and the Cross Bronx Expressway. No one was hurt.

Police say the robbers went on the run in the stolen car, eventually abandoning it on University Avenue in the Highbridge section.
