A few days ago, last Friday (20th), the senior in Darmstadt received several calls from previously unknown people who pretended to be police officers.

The scammers told the man that his bank accounts and other belongings are no longer safe. In order to protect the senior from financial damage, he would now have to hand over his valuables to the police. Through skillful conversation, the fraudsters tricked the man into packing up cash and valuables, including gold bars and coins, and handing them over to an alleged colleague. According to initial findings, the damage is estimated at a low six-figure amount. The valuables were picked up at around 11.30 am by an unknown man in the street “Dachsbergweg”. The age of the person collecting it was estimated at around 35-40 years and his size at around 1.80 meters. He was wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans. He then walked away with the objects.

The criminal police in Darmstadt asks witnesses who have made suspicious observations in this matter or who can provide other relevant information to call 06151 / 969-0.

In this context, there is another warning against the scam. Never give money or valuables to strangers just because of a phone call! The police never question her on the phone about her financial background and valuables. Do not let yourself be put under pressure! If you are unsure, then end the call immediately, hang up the receiver and immediately dial 110.
