Fallen acrobat can walk again after circus accident in Carré | NOW

The Uzbek acrobat Kristina Vorobeva, who fell 10 meters at the beginning of January during a performance in Carré, can walk again. Her physiotherapist reported this on Sunday evening Heart of the Netherlands.

“We expect her to walk out on crutches at the end of April,” says physiotherapist Mireille Pont. “Her rehabilitation has been very intensive. She couldn’t do anything when she came in. She could only move her feet.”

Vorobeva will be able to walk without tools in the future, Pont expects, but a full recovery may take as long as two years. Pont does not dare say whether Vorobeva can perform as a circus artist again. “She was a trapeze at world level. It seems impossible to me to get back to the same level, but who knows, she might surprise us.”

Accident was probably caused by broken tooth

Rustem Ozmanov (32) and his wife Kristina Vorobeva (31), performing under the stage name Sky Angels, fell about 10 meters without a safety net during the World Christmas Circus in Carré on Friday 3 January. Both artists were removed unconscious.

The accident happened during the final of the act they perform under the name Sky Angels. In this stunt, Ozmanov is lifted into the air with Vorobeva on a harness that he holds in his mouth. His tooth may have broken off, releasing the pressure with which he bit the bit.

After the fall, Ozmanov was soon able to leave the hospital with a mild concussion. Vorobeva was operated on her neck and screws were placed between her cervical vertebrae. The past three months she has been recovering in a rehabilitation center in Amsterdam. “Her husband has always been there. He has not left her side,” said the physiotherapist to Hart van Nederland.
