It was opener Fakhar Zaman who became the hero of the Pakistan team with an explosive innings in the match. Fakhar scored 81 runs in 74 balls including seven sixes and three fours. The match against Bangladesh was a wake-up call for the player who had gone through a poor run of form and for the team which was plagued by back-to-back defeats. But the chances of Pakistan reaching the semi-finals are slim. Fakhar Zaman says that India is the cause of this situation in Pakistan.
Every win in the World Cup will give you confidence. We were waiting for this win. We are starting to get back on track. In the game against South Africa, the Pak team made a comeback in batting and bowling. The team combinations are just right for us now.
I have been a part of this dressing room for almost eight years. This team will only get better. The defeat against India still haunts us. The India-Pakistan rivalry is certainly huge. “It would be a lie to say that our defeat against them has not made any difference to us,” said Fakhar.
