Facing the Climate Crisis, Scientists Plan to Create Bubble Shield to Protect Earth from the Sun : Okezone techno

TIM MIT researchers plan to create a giant bubble as a protective shield between the earth and the sun. It is also to prevent further disasters from climate crisis.

Reported from The ByteMonday (06/20/2022), Spearheaded by MIT’s Sensible Cities Lab, the project dubbed “Space Bubbles” poses a reasonable question to them and provides a curious answer: “if climate change has gone too far, what harm is there in doing?” us? And what is the solution?”

In a press release the scientists replied, one of the emergency measures would be “solar geoengineering,” a highly theoretical and studied field of research that aims to reflect a fraction of the sunlight that comes to Earth.

The speculative hypothesis that scientists admit is simple in principle: launch a spacecraft that will create a transparent bubble between the Sun and Earth.

“These bubbles can later protect the earth from exposure to sunlight that damages the balance of its surface. This could be a significant solar geoengineering solution to reduce space debris,” the researchers said.

Later the bubbles may be made transparent like gels and other materials and placed at the Lagrange Point of the Sun and Earth, allowing them to remain in stable orbits relative to Earth.

Calculated through math, literally the situation out there the researchers noted is that if we deflected 1.8 percent of the solar radiation that occurred before it hit our planet, we could completely reverse the current global warming.

According to the researchers this method is not intended to be a comprehensive solution to climate change, but rather is intended to complement other mitigation efforts.

“And given that our current efforts are not enough to prevent an impending climate catastrophe, it may be time to start thinking outside the box to create this bubble,” concluded the research team.
