Facial recognition is gaining ground in the United States

The specter of Chinese surveillance does not put off US federal agencies. According to a report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) – the US congressional audit body – released on August 24, 10 of 24 agencies surveyed plan to step up their use of facial recognition by 2023 , but also to extend it to other applications.

Until now, the uses of this technology within agencies were mainly limited to unlocking your professional smartphone and computer. But if an artificial intelligence knows how to recognize an employee, perhaps it will be able to identify an intruder or even a criminal. According to the 90-page report, an increasing number of agencies are taking this path.
