Positive Passenger of Covid-19 Passed to Fly, What Needs to be Evaluated? Page all

KOMPAS.com – Positive case of Covid-19 on airplane passengers happen again.

In addition to a case involving a plane passenger at Minangkabau International Airport (BIM), West Sumatra, in early June 2020, a Garuda Indonesia passenger on the Jakarta-Sorong route was also known to be positively infected with the corona virus.

Officers found out that the 20-year-old passenger was positive for the corona virus after finding documents issued by the West Java Provincial Health Service Laboratory.

The document stated that the results of the passenger inspection were positive for Covid-19.

As a result, 90 passengers on the flight were advised to undergo independent quarantine for two weeks.

So that the same case does not happen again, what should be evaluated?

An epidemiologist who is also a Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Task Force at the UNS Hospital, Tonang Dwi Ardyanto, said the policy included examination results documents. rapid test and the swab test on the way actually raises questions.

As a result, the test period was 7 days for the PCR swab test and 3 days for rapid test.

Meanwhile, the test results are only valid on the day of the examination.

“Because the person who took the swab for PCR today and proved negative, it is not certain that the next day is not infected,” Tonang said, when contacted. Kompas.com, Sunday (6/28/2020).

Tonang also highlighted the policy revision by extending the validity period of the test results for the travel conditions of 14 days.

According to him, the policy was even more confusing and lost its essence.

Two things must be considered

Tonang holds, there are two important things that must be considered when reopening public transportation.

First, maintaining the risk of transmission during the trip, and secondly, preventing transmission to other areas.

To carry out these two things, Tonang suggested that the validity of the examination test be reduced to 1 day.

In addition, the government also needs to consider using a combination of antigen and antibody tests.

“The right step is to do a PCR test on that day. But it takes time, energy, tools, human resources, and so on. So, my proposal for travel conditions is to use an antibody test combination of antibody tests,” explained Tonang.

According to Tonang, an antigen test is used to find out if there is still a virus in a person’s body and an antibody test to find out if an immune system has arisen.

Tonang explained, the two tests should be done at the Port Health Office (KKP) or locations around the airport.

This is to anticipate the existence of allegations that the hospital is looking for profit from the policy.

“People who want to go we check there. This antigen test uses a swab but the examination is fast. It will be better because it is filtered right and there is no need to disturb the hospital,” Tonang said.

“This is also to anticipate complaints that because of travel documents, the cost of inspection has increased, it is thought that hospitals are looking for profit. This is not convenient. It is known by the CTF because of government offices,” he continued.

If screening tight at the beginning it was done, then the implementation of the 70-100 percent aircraft capacity policy had little effect.

With notes, passengers continue to comply with applicable health protocols, such as using masks.
