Facebook’s old design will soon disappear

Facebook is completing the transformation of its interface. In a few days, all users of the social network will be entitled to the new, clearer design unveiled last year.

In April 2019, Facebook presented a new design that applies to both mobile applications and its desktop version, the one on the web. Early January, several users were entitled to this new interface, which appears for a few months on iOS and Android. In March, it became possible to switch to the new interface by activating it by hand.

Everyone goes to the new design

Facebook goes one step further to impose this design, by activating it by default for all users. The social network explains in a assistance note that we can return to the classic design of the interface by clicking on the small arrow at the top right, then selecting the option “Switch to the classic version of Facebook”.

But you will have to get used to it very quickly: the old skin will only remain available until September. Then there will only be the new interface. This redesign is not lacking in interest, it presents three separate panels with the contacts on the right, in the center the news feed and Stories, on the left the home section with the different links to games, groups, pages, etc.

Facebook has put a lot more space between the different sections, which makes browsing more pleasant. As a bonus, the web version is available in a dark version: ideal for staying in touch with friends and community in the evening and at night, without burning your eyes.

With this new design, Facebook wants to highlight groups: there are tens of millions of them and when a user finds the one that suits him, it often becomes the most important place. Over 400 million people belong to a group. In addition, this brushstroke should also help the social network to retain its younger users, who are more and more attracted to TikTok, Snapchat or Instagram.
