Facebook Messenger is a messaging application as popular as WhatsApp. However, most users are unaware of the tricks that the platform hides. One of these methods allows you to have a private conversation to which no one has access other than you and the other person you want to talk to. How does it work? Here we tell you what you should do.
To talk to a person in a secret chat through Facebook Messenger you have to follow a series of steps and schedule the chat according to the confidentiality you want it to have. So do the following:
- Enter Facebook Messenger, select the user you want to send the secret message to.
- You open the conversation with that person and then select their name.
- Scroll down and select “go to secret conversation”
- A new chat will open for you with end-to-end encryption to which only you and your contact have access.
To program the timer, you must go to the bottom of the chat and click on the clock icon. Then you must choose the time you want the messages to last after being read, then they will delete themselves. The timer times are 5, 10, 30 and 60 seconds.
Differences between a secret chat and a normal chat
As reported by Facebook, the differences between a normal conversation and a secret one are minimal. The most important has to do with encryption security, which allows both people to speak securely without risking someone being able to “see” the messages that are sent.
Another difference is the function that allows you to delete the secret chat after the time previously configured by the user who created the chat in question.
