Facebook has announced the arrival of the screen sharing function in Messenger, for video calls within the iOS or Android app.
Share your screen on Messenger
–
Facebook Messenger never stops multiplying new functions in recent months. Dark mode, video call up to eight people displayed, arrivals from Rooms to discuss in larger groups, increased security, etc. A new week, new function and here is the screen sharing that is deployed on iOS and Android. It was already available for Desktop versions.
Now, when you are on a video call with your loved ones and friends from your smartphone, you will be able to show them the content of your screen. No more going through the computer or making contortions to show the PC screen with the camera of your smartphone. Between you and your screen, you will no longer have to choose who to show and you will be able to see everyone at the same time.
Sharing up to 16 people in Messenger Rooms
This can come in handy when preparing a project, shopping, sharing vacation photos or showing a document. You can share the screen with eight people on video call and up to 16 if you are in a Messenger Rooms room.
Facebook promises to add soon the possibility of controlling who is authorized to share its screen in Messenger Rooms, but also to increase the number of people with whom you will be able to share it (up to 50 participants).
How to activate screen sharing?
The deployment is underway and requires the latest update to Facebook Messenger.
Start a video chat with one or more participants
Drag the menu from the bottom of the window to the top. Conversation options appear
Activate screen sharing. A message appears to validate the action. Your camera then turns off and your contacts see your screen for you.
