F1 Brazilian Grand Prix Final 2022: 1-2 British since 2010[F1-Gate.com]

The F1 2022 Brazilian GP was a hot race that carried the heat of the previous day’s sprint as it was.

The race was won by Mercedes’ George Russell. It was the eagerly awaited first F1 victory in the 81st race, and it was the first win of the season for the Mercedes F1 Team. Interlagos has provided interesting numbers.

• George Russell is the 113th winner in F1 history and the 20th British winner.

● This is the first time God Save the King is played for drivers and constructors in the F1 world championship.

● George Russell made his first Grand Prix weekend appearance as a Force India FP1 driver at the 2017 Brazilian F1 Grand Prix.

● Mercedes F1 hadn’t achieved a one-two finish for over two years. The last one was at Imola 2020, when Lewis Hamilton defeated Valtteri Bottas.

● Mercedes took their first win of 2022 after 15 podium finishes this season.

• Last British driver to achieve a 1-2 finish since the 2010 F1 Canadian Grand Prix, when Lewis Hamilton beat McLaren team-mate Jenson Button.

• Lewis Hamilton has finished second in three races in a row, his fifth finish of the season, but is yet to secure a win in 2022.

● Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz will score his ninth podium in 2022. His first podium came at Interlagos in 2019 when he was promoted to third after the race.

• Teammate Charles Leclerc finished 4th and is battling Red Bull’s Sergio Perez for second place in the world championship with 290 points.

● Fernando Alonso finished fifth, giving Alpine their third best result of the season in 2022. Alonso started from 17th on the grid.

• Max Verstappen handed Perez to Leclerc as second in the drivers’ standings when he overtook his team-mate in the closing stages of the race to finish sixth.

● Sixth place is Verstappen’s worst finish at Interlagos since joining Red Bull Racing in 2016.

• Sergio Pérez’s 7th place tied him at 290 points in the final, where he finished ahead of Leclerc in the sprint.

● Sergio Perez was running in 3rd place with 9 laps to go.

● Alpine’s Esteban Ocon finished 8th in back-to-back races and finished in the points for the second consecutive year at Interlagos.

● Alfa Romeo and Valtteri Bottas finished in 9th place, giving away Alfa Romeo points in consecutive races. In the previous 10 races he had 0 points.

● Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll finished tenth for the sixth time in 2022.

● McLaren recorded its first double retirement since Jenson Button’s last F1 race, the 2017 Monaco F1 GP.

• It was a weekend of ups and downs for Haas F1 Team and Kevin Magnussen. Haas took pole position and retired on the opening lap of the Grand Prix.

● Kevin Magnussen retired with 0 laps for the second time in his career, colliding respectively with McLaren and Daniel Ricciardo (2017 and 2022).
