Ezz El-Din: Berri’s propensity for dialogue is an attempt to open avenues for solutions in the country | Politics

Ezz El-Din’s words came on the occasion of the launch of the report of the hearings held in the House of Representatives, entitled “The economic security of women in the shadow of the crisis”, in the presence of numerous deputies and representatives of associations and entities participated in the hearings, as well as representatives of numerous trade union organizations, embassies and international organizations.

Ezz El-Din indicated that “the hearings were held in the light of the difficult and exceptional circumstances that Lebanon is going through and in the light of the imminent great challenges, which have led to a near mistrust between the Lebanese citizen and the political institutions, underlining that “parliaments have a central role in overcoming and facing challenges. Opening a path to allow people to engage and participate in legislative processes is an element that contributes to shaping the present and the future of people”, explaining that “the hearings fit into this context.”

And she underlined that “the choice of the theme of “women’s economic security in the light of the crises” was not accidental, because this theme is important and has been a priority in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic and in conjunction with the economic crisis that we are living , which has had a great impact on the condition of Lebanese women. stakeholders, without excluding anyone, especially Lebanese women directly, without intermediaries, in the countryside, in the cities, and from within families and workplaces”, considering that “this inclusiveness is a condition for the success of the hearings”.

Ezz El-Din called for “partnership with all parties”, emphasizing “the role of the media in turning the headlines of the hearings into a media article and a matter of public opinion”.

She also invited civil society to “collaborate”, expressing her regret “for the fact that some women’s associations have not shown sufficient availability for participatory and collaborative work that guarantees the rehabilitation and consolidation of bridges between the components”.

He concluded by urging “the expansion of the listening experience to include new addresses in various fields”.
