Ezequiel Lavezzi Hospitalized for Addictions: Speculations of Overdose Denied by Son

Former football star Ezequiel Lavezzi was hospitalized in a specialized clinic for the treatment of addictions. There were speculations that the Olympic champion and world runner-up with Argentina had overdosed, which his son denies. However, already in December, information appeared that he was brought to the hospital because of drugs.

Former teammate of Marek Hamšík in Naples, who also worked in Paris St. Germain, is going through an extremely difficult period. Almost three weeks after the unclear incident, when he was taken to the hospital in the Uruguayan city of Punta del Este, the striker with 51 international starts and 9 goals was hospitalized again.

This time he is in a psychiatric clinic in Buenos Aires that specializes in the treatment of addictions. Reports immediately appeared in the Argentine media that he may have overdosed.

“My father is doing well and is currently undergoing treatment. Stop making things up that aren’t true. It wasn’t an overdose,” his son wrote on the social network, but he did not deny the connection with drugs.

At the end of last year, Ezequiel Lavezzi had an accident in which he was injured. His family claimed he fell off a ladder while changing a light bulb. However, traces of drugs were found in his house and the police started an investigation. At that time, information also appeared that the former football player may have injured himself as a result of their use and caused a cut on his abdomen.

During his career from 2003 to 2019, the Argentine played 611 matches in which he scored 170 goals. Ezequiel Lavezzi has won ten trophies, including the 2008 Olympic title when he was Lionel Messi’s teammate. In 2014, he played in the final of the World Cup, where Argentina lost to Germany 0:1 in extra time.
