In the last week, the number of cases of infection has increased sharply in Ålesund municipality. On Friday night, the municipality settled the status with 21 infections during the last three days.
– The increase in the number of cases of infection is very disturbing, says municipal chief physician Jonas Vegsundvåg.
Four people are now hospitalized in Ålesund with coronary heart disease.
Increase risk
On Sunday afternoon, municipal chief physician Olav Mestad clarified the situation in Ålesund. 356 people in the municipality are now in quarantine. In addition, there is a school class in the so-called waiting quarantine.
– In a short time, we have gone from risk level 1 to risk level 3 to 4. Several cases of the British corona mutation have also been proven.
The municipality has therefore chosen to adopt a regulation where they go further than the national measures. The regulations apply to everyone who resides in Ålesund municipality.
Extensive shutdown
During the press conference on Sunday Ålesund municipality announced strict measures to prevent further spread of infection. The measures are common to the three municipalities of Ålesund, Giske and Sula.
During the press conference, the mayor of Ålesund, Eva Vinje Aurdal (Labor Party), answered questions about whether the municipality should not have closed down at an earlier time.
– I believe that the measures we have had are the right ones in terms of the infection situation. I think people have experienced it as stressful enough as it has been, said Aurdal and believes that the situation in Ålesund can not be compared to as it has been in Oslo.
– That we now have to come up with stricter measures is because the infection situation has changed. So I think it is not necessary to come up with measures earlier, she continued.
The regulations will be implemented at midnight Monday night, and will last until 11 April at 24.00. From then on, these measures will apply:
- Fitness center will be closed.
- Swimming pools, water parks, spas and hotel pools will be closed.
- Museum will be closed.
- Amusement parks, bingo halls, arcades, playgrounds, bowling alleys and similar places.
- Cinemas, theaters, concert halls and similar cultural and entertainment facilities will be closed.
- Cinema, theater, concert venues and similar cultural and entertainment venues.
- Other public places and activities where there are cultural, entertainment or leisure activities that bring people together indoors.
Adjustments are introduced, but as a general rule these are closed. A ban on events will also be introduced. It is also not allowed to have indoor events for people over 20 years.
The municipality makes an exception from the regulations and emphasizes that there can be up to 100 people in funerals.
They have also chosen to make certain exceptions to prioritize children and young people.
– Children and young people under the age of 20 can keep up with organized cultural, sports and leisure activities, says the mayor of Ålesund Eva Vinje Aurdal (Labor). The municipality will also allow indoor training for professional athletes.
Mandatory for bandages
There will also be a general requirement for face masks in towns where it is not possible to keep at least one meter distance. This applies to shops, in common areas in shopping centers, in restaurants, in panties and philosophical houses, in public transport and indoor station areas, and in premises for cultural, sports and leisure activities. Passengers must wear face masks in taxis.
The obligation to wear a face mask does not apply to children under the age of 12, or to those who for medical or other reasons cannot wear a face mask.
Hairdressing salons are so far not closed.
– It does not happen until we are at risk level 5, but we assess the situation all the time, said municipal chief physician Olav Mestad.
Strict recommendations
The municipality also makes a number of recommendations to the inhabitants.
* You should not have more than five guests in your own home.
* You should not have contact with more than 10 people during a week – beyond – useful job contacts.
* You should keep two meters away with other people in risk group situations where the risk of infection is high
* Everyone should avoid travel that is not necessary.
* The inhabitants can go to a holiday home, but only together with people in their own household.
Mayor Eva Vinje Aurdal hopes that they can quickly gain control of the situation.
– Until now, we have managed to handle the infection situation in Ålesund in a good way. I hope that we can do that in the future as well. But it depends on people supporting the measures.
