It previously seemed that the explosion of a service car, on December 30, before the start of the Dakar Rally, was due to a bomb. French pilot Philippe Boutron – also president of US Orléans football club – was seriously injured in the explosion. He threatens to lose both legs, and is kept in an artificial coma. The organization had already said it would not rule out malicious intent.
