– We see this as a serious accident, says head of operations in the police in Nordland, Remi Johansen.
The police were notified of the accident shortly before 0.30am on Sunday. All emergency notifications went out to the company.
According to Johansen, three people were in the area of a business in Mosjøen when a bottle of acetylene exploded.
This gas is mostly used for welding.
It was one of the three involved who himself called to report the incident.
Two of the three have been taken to the hospital in Sandnessjøen, while one of them has been taken to UNN in Tromsø with serious injuries.
Only one of the three is connected to the company and they were not in the area in connection with work. The police will therefore not call it an occupational accident.
– What they did there is part of what we are trying to find out, says Johansen.
The aim is to interview those involved during the day, but the police are unsure whether they will be allowed to speak to the person who was sent to Tromsø on Sunday.
