After many memorable words at the ceremony marking the city’s anniversary, the vividness of Wassenberg’s history came into its own at the subsequent opening of the exhibition in the keep. Sepp Becker and Walter Bienen from the local history association, together with the new city archivist Eva Schneider, have compiled images and documents on three levels that invite visitors to take a ride through Wassenberg’s history from Roman times to the recent past. During his welcome, Mayor Marcel Maurer thanked Sepp Becker and the dedicated volunteers who “have been racking their brains for months” for the clear presentation of around 900 years of history.
