De Leeuw endlessly searched through the 380 hours of film material she received from Tinkebell, looking for beautiful moments and interesting connections. Not always easy, because during her search through the raw material, she started to find Tinkebell more and more annoying. ‘I had a lot of trouble really connecting with her. I kept thinking: hey, just don’t be so strange. I really had to look for some kind of love for her.’
She liked that too. Ultimately, in a fragment of a young Katinka Simonse, who, as an uninhibited and driven artist, creates her first work. A bag – from her cat.
With a mix of love and irritation, De Leeuw was able to continue. After all, that’s how it went with her previous film Ruut Weissman – De main character, about the controversial theater director who was accused of inappropriate behavior.
