Exploring Cultural Diversity through Children’s Voices: Les Comptines de Bobigny

Like a dozen other children, Mouna took part in a cycle around sound, led by Grégoire Triau. Quickly caught up in the game, the children first wrote a short list of questions. In the evening, a recorder in their pocket, they and they took the time to talk with their parents, to question them about their lives. A usual moment in some families, less so in others: a mother lets it be understood that it is a matter of generation: “Before, the children did not ask the parents questions. »

Songs, nursery rhymes, sung fables, open a door to habits, daily life, sensitivity: we sing to put a child to sleep, to wash or to revive the memory of a city. We sing in several languages, we sing for someone, or alone. One of the participants had never heard men sing before listening to the recordings brought back to the workshop by the others; another dreams of becoming a singer, and this intimate bond with her parents questions her.
