München/New York (ots) – At this year’s NEW YORK Festival, the film DIE WANNSEEKONFERENZ, produced by Constantin Television and ZDF, won gold in the “Feature Films” category. Film and TV entries from 42 countries competed at the New York festivals in primetime entertainment, documentaries, investigative journalism, sports coverage, promos, streaming media and branded image films. All entries in the 2022 competition were judged online and viewed by the NYF TV & Film Awards Grand Jury of over 200 producers, directors, writers and other creative media professionals from around the world. DIE WANNSEEKONFEREN convinced the jury and received gold!
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the historic Wannsee Conference, in January 2022 ZDF broadcast the film highlight DIE WANNSEEKONFERENZ, co-produced with Constantin Television and directed by Matti Geschonneck.
On the morning of January 20, 1942, leading representatives of the Nazi regime met in a villa on Großer Wannsee in Berlin: SS, Reich Chancellery, ministries, police, administration. Reinhard Heydrich invited – to a “meeting followed by breakfast”; the meeting will go down in history as the “Wannsee Conference”. The exclusive topic of the discussion is what the National Socialists call the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question”: the organization of the systematic mass murder of millions of Jews in Europe.
The screenplay for DIE WANNSEEKONFERENZ was written by Magnus Vattrodt, inspired by a template by Paul Mommertz. Under the direction of Matti Geschonneck, the participants of the conference will be Johannes Allmayer, Matthias Bundschuh, Maximilian Brückner, Fabian Busch, Jakob Diehl, Godehard Giese, Philipp Hochmair, Peter Jordan, Arnd Klawitter, Frederic Linkemann, Thomas Loibl, Sascha Nathan, Markus Schleinzer , Simon Schwarz and Rafael Stachowiak embodied.
DIE WANNSEEKONFERENZ is a co-production of Constantin Television with ZDF and was funded by FilmFernsehFond Bayern (FFF Bayern) and medienbord Berlin-Brandenburg (MBB). Telepool took over the world sales in cooperation with Constantin Film Autovermietung. Producers are Reinhold Elschot and Friederich Oetker, Executive Producer is Oliver Berben, ZDF is edited by Frank Zervos and Stefanie von Heydwolff. The shooting took place from the beginning of November to mid-December using the original motif at Wannsee and in the Unionfilm studios in Berlin. The project was supported by the memorial and educational center “House of the Wannsee Conference”.
