Exactly 30 (instead of 2500) extra status holders now live in a hotel

No blow to the plans yet

The government, municipalities and COA have been looking for solutions to the crisis for more than six months, which is felt most strongly in the application center in Ter Apel. At the end of last week it was decided to set up a crisis organization team, led by the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV).

Yesterday evening In the so-called Security Council, the cabinet and COA spoke with the mayors of larger municipalities (the chairmen of the 25 security regions) about the cabinet’s solutions to get out of the crisis. After that consultation, it turned out that the plans have not yet been hit.

Chairman Bruls told in Sven on 1 on NPO Radio 1 that the cabinet has asked the municipalities to provide a solution for the medium term, in addition to the crisis emergency shelter they are currently organizing to relieve Ter Apel. In concrete terms, this concerns extra care until October. “That’s quite a lot”, said Bruls, because the same municipalities already receive tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine and they also have insufficient staff and experience with this work.

From October, the cabinet believes that status holders should be able to move on to temporary housing in, for example, old office buildings. This week there will most likely be consultations about the cabinet plans again.
