Ex-Vice President argues there is evidence of corruption within Barcelona NOW

Vice President Emili Rousaud, who stepped down on Saturday, repeated in a statement on Tuesday that the board of FC Barcelona was guilty of corruption.

“The fact that contracts with several companies (one of which is located in a tax haven and breaks the law) for the purpose of evading internal controls proves corruption exists within the club,” Rousaud said in his statement.

The Catalan along with five other board members quit more or less forced at FC Barcelona on Saturday and subsequently accused the club of corruption. The reigning champion of Spain responded Monday night by filing a lawsuit against Rousaud “in defense of the club’s and staff’s honor”.

Rousaud sticks to his accusations in his new statement. “Everything I said in this case is true and provable. There is no basis for a lawsuit.”

According to the former vice president, he directly shared his concerns about corruption within the club internally. “Unfortunately that is the reason for my departure now. But it was my moral and legal obligation to denounce this.”

One of the nullified contracts Rousaud is referring to is likely with a PR agency allegedly hired President Josep Maria Bartomeu to put other board members on social media in a bad light. This deal is said to be one of the main reasons for the departure of Rousaud and the five other board members.
