EVZ defender Livio Stadler: “Choreo gives us an extra push”

Three eight-meter-high figures from the “Star Wars” saga tower over the entire width and height of the Zug fan curve. Where at normal times the EVZ appendix stand and cheer their team on loudly.

For known reasons, this fan curve has been completely silent since October last year.

So the supporters of the EVZ are looking for other ways to support their favorite ice hockey team. One of these types is sensational choreography, for which the Zug fans have been known for a long time.

With a lot of diligence and fluency

Zentralplus wanted to know more precisely who created these impressive choreos and how much effort, heart and soul and passion went into it. We were able to find out more from one of the creative heads of the lead choreography group, who does not want to be mentioned by name.

The numbers behind this great project are impressive. Approximately 50 working hours were invested in the preparation of the elements. The hard-working choreography group painted the three eight-meter-high figures on over 150 square meters of fleece and fixed them with around 450 meters of adhesive tape.

These are the characters Obi Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and a stormtrooper from the famous “Star Wars” film series. The matching motto can be read on a 22-meter-long and 1.5-meter-high banner: “Tame d ‘star conquer!”

The entire installation, which also includes 5,500 white and blue sheets of paper that were distributed on the seats throughout the stadium to represent the Zug coat of arms, took place last Saturday, April 11th. From around 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., up to 45 people helped to give the Bossard Arena its new, temporary appearance.

A choreo project extends over the entire season

The choreography group is made up of various fans who are not tied to an official fan club. Before the season starts, the hard core of this group meets for brainstorming, during which ideas are created, suggestions are discussed and a draft is developed. At the beginning of the season, the material is ordered, which, by the way, is sourced regionally whenever possible.

The cost of materials for a choreo usually amounts to at least CHF 1,000. For larger projects such as the current installation or the bombastic ship, which many fans still fondly remember from the playoff final of the 2018/19 season (exactly two years earlier, on April 13, 2019), the costs can also exceed 2000 Franconia go out.

The choreography group is dependent on donations to finance their actions. These flow to the grouping of private individuals as well as clubs, associations and companies. In addition, there are cup donations and part of the income can also be generated through the sale of fan merchandise.

It is worth mentioning that the choreography group supports a charitable institution at Christmas time, such as “Every Rappen Counts” or the Cancer Aid.

The choreography group is also grateful that they have found different places where they can work on the creations. Of course, a lot of space is required for this. It’s not that easy at the Zug location.

The EV Zug team feels and appreciates the support

The choreography group wants to put the team and their support in the foreground with the respective subject. This message reaches the EVZ at all levels.

EVZ fan delegate Mario Vassanelli praised: “We are very proud of our fans, who invest so much time in this difficult situation, in which they are not allowed to watch the matches in the stadium, to get the players up and running put.”

“It’s touching when you see how much EV Zug means to a lot of people.”

EVZ trainer Dan Tangnes

The team will definitely get the support, emphasizes Zug defender Livio Stadler: “Especially in this situation, in which we are not allowed to have spectators, that’s a huge statement. We really notice the will of our fans to support us, even if they are not allowed to be there. We really feel the great love for the club. “

The 21-year-old from Steinhausen thinks it’s incredibly nice to see such a choreo at the start of the playoff, “that gives us an extra push and extra motivation.”

New choreo for final qualification

Dan Tangnes also cares about the fans: «We miss our fans. It’s touching when you see how much EV Zug means to a lot of people. ”

Zug’s head coach says: “We have been talking all year round about wanting to play for the many fans, even if they are not here and have to follow us from a distance.” With sparkling eyes, the charismatic Norwegian raves about how much the whole team appreciates the support: “I think there were a few fans outside the stadium before the game. That of course gives the players energy. I am proud and happy that we enjoy this support. It means a lot to all of us and we’ll do whatever we can to make the fans proud. ”

The choreography can be admired for at least the entire quarter-finals series. Should the EVZ qualify for the final, it can be assumed that the choreography group will go one step further.

Until then, there is still a lot to do for the league dominator’s team. Because one thing seems to be clear after last Thursday’s game in Bern: EVZ will be happy to receive any kind of support.
