Vasiliev became a bronze laureate at the European Championship last year.
In the women’s competition, Latvian athlete Sofja Stepchenko is in 14th place after the short program and will compete in optional skating on Saturday. In ice dancing, Latvian figure skating is represented by Aurelija Ipolito and Lūks Russell, who on Friday won 20th place in rhythm dance and will also compete in the optional dance on Saturday.
