The National Team is even far from the final, but the official website still sorts the rankings by goal totals, putting it ahead of France.
For many years, in all roller hockey competitions, ties between teams with the same points were made by the quotient of the total goals. World Skate Europe already applies the most current tiebreaker for the goal difference between the teams that finish with the same points, which left Portugal out of the European final, to the detriment of France and Spain.
The National Team was left with a difference of -1 in the games with the two finalists (3-5 with France and 10-9 with Spain), losing to Spain (+1, of 3-1 with France and 9-10 with Portugal) and France (0, 5-3 and 1-3), who will play this Saturday’s final at 20:00.
However, the World Skate Europe-Rink Hockey website still uses the old system, so the classification of the European group appears with Portugal in second place (quotient of 2.05), ahead of France (1.33) .
The situation is ridiculous, but let there be no confusion: the National Team was out of the final and will play for third place with Italy (17:00).
