European championship postponed in Budapest – sport.ORF.at

The European Swimming Championships in Budapest were postponed on Friday about seven weeks before the planned start. The new European Championship date for pool and open water swimming, water diving, synchronized swimming as well as the Masters European Championship is now from August 17th to 24th from August 17th to 30th. It will be evaluated at the end of May / beginning of June whether this will persist despite the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is currently difficult, if not impossible, to plan on a specific date,” Paolo Barelli, President of the European Swimming Federation (LEN), was quoted in a press release. In around two and a half months you will see whether you can then officially make the new EM date. Should it not be possible to hold it this summer, it could well be postponed to 2021.
