Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The situation on the Crimean peninsula in the Black Sea is heating up again. Russian fighter jets reportedly intercepted a British Air Force plane, Thursday (11/11/2021).
In a statement carried by the state news agency RIA, Russia’s Ministry of Defense said the British plane was flying near its border. Its position is about 30 kilometers from its territory.
“The British RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft tried to approach the borders of the Russian Federation in the southwestern part of the Crimean peninsula,” the ministry said.
Russia itself sent a Su-30 to urge him to leave. Russia says British jets turned around as Russian jets approached.
Crimea is a hot spot in Europe. Moscow branded the West annexing the territory from Ukraine IN 2014.
On the same day, Russia also criticized the United States (US) and NATO in the Black Sea. NATO activity in the region has increased following Ukraine’s request and announcement of military exercises.
“This unscheduled (military) exercise near our borders demonstrates the aggressive US actions which were in no way provoked by Russia, which creates a threat to regional security and strategic stability,” the ministry was quoted as saying. TASS.
TASS reported that the Russian missile cruiser Moskva and the frigate Essen were also tracking US warships in the Black Sea. Russia insists there is a scenario of using force to resolve the conflict.
Unfortunately, there is no confirmation from NATO about this.
In other parts of Europe, the border between Poland and Belarus, Russia is also reportedly sending two bombers to support Minsk from possible clashes with Warsaw and the European Union due to the migrant crisis. Poland said Belarus deliberately allowed hundreds of refugees to force their way into its border areas.
This made Poland alert hundreds of officers. The potential for armed conflict is believed to occur if there is a provocation.
