That’s it, let’s go a month of football matches, since the opening, Friday June 11, of Euro 2021.
After being postponed for a year due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the European football competition is now off to a good start, with Italy’s landslide victory over Turkey (3-0) for the match. openness and enormous concern on Saturday after the discomfort of Danish player Christian Eriksen, in the middle of the Denmark-Finland match.
While the first game of the Blues is played Tuesday, against Germany, and that the weather is good in recent days, a question arises: how to watch the matches outside of his home? In the bars ? On giant screens in the squares of our cities? In the fan zones?
We take stock, to make the most of the show, scheduled until July 11.
Option 1: home matches
Watching the competition at home, with friends or with family, it’s practical, it’s convivial, but after three confinements, you may also want to get out of your home a bit. And in addition you must have beIN Sports, access to which is chargeable.
TF1 and M6, with free access, will broadcast 23 matches, including those of the France team and the final (phew).
Option 2: bars
One of the fallback solutions that comes directly to mind is to go to one of the many bars or restaurants or brasseries, now open, and which can broadcast matches, a tradition now.
Local newsroomsactu.fr have echoed in recent days of broadcasts that can be scheduled here and there, as in Lille, Toulouse, Caen, Cherbourg, Vire-Normandie, Rennes, Saint-Germain-en-Lay, Mayenne, Seine-et -Marl…
Can bars install giant screens on the terrace? Is there a derogation from the health protocol for the Euro (we saw that the spectators of the Djokovic-Nadal match at Roland-Garros had benefited from an exemption from the curfew)?
“There will be no derogation for Euro 2021, entrusts the Ministry of Sports to actu.fr. The rules that apply in bars for the broadcasting of matches are those of the sanitary protocol for bars and restaurants, in force until June 30. “
Same story on the side of the Ministry of Health, which indicates to actu.fr : “For bars and restaurants wishing to broadcast matches, they remain subject to the current rules in this type of establishment, that is to say:
- Distancing rules on the terraces, 100% (compulsory seats and tables of 6 people);
- 50% of the maximum indoor reception capacity for restaurants and drinking establishments (tables of 6 people);
- the maximum reception capacity of the establishment is displayed and visible from the public thoroughfare when it is accessible from it. “
Add to this no consumption at the counter and of course respect for the curfew at 11 p.m..
If establishments can therefore install a giant screen on the terrace, it is necessary to qualify, because some cities or prefectures do not agree and take decrees to prohibit the broadcasting of matches outdoors. This is the case in Rennes, Colmar, in the Jura, where they require a retransmission of matches only indoors, until June 30, in compliance with health measures.
Option 3: giant screens installed by town halls
And in the squares of our municipalities? Will we have giant screens to vibrate, especially with the Blues? It had become, before the Covid-19, an almost obligatory passage, to collectively enjoy the show, in an atmosphere worthy of football stadiums.
Except that since then, the Covid-19 has been there and the protocols and measures to fight the epidemic too. Here too, the Ministries of Health and Sports remind us, “there will be no derogation”.
“The sanitary rules in force between June 9 and 29 must be respected, in particular the ban on undeclared public gatherings of more than 10 people », Insists the Ministry of Health.
“It is difficult to see how a municipality could install a giant screen under these conditions,” Sports said. It would take groups of 10 people maximum, sufficiently spaced from each other … “
Not really compatible with a large gathering to enjoy a giant screen. And not really compatible either with an authorization from the prefect.
Option 4 : les fan zones
In this case, the option remains fan zones, those zones delimited with gauges, which can be set up at the request of the mayors, if validated by the prefect of the department, as in Bron, in the metropolis of Lyon.
As announced by the Minister of Sports, a sanitary protocol dedicated to fan zones has been unveiled this week. A strict protocol until June 30, with a maximum of 5,000 people, all seated, with access on presentation of the health pass for more than 1,000 people.
“From June 30, it will be possible to open fan zones with standing spectators, while guaranteeing barrier measures and distancing”, adds the Ministry of Health, citing the health protocol for sport.
At that point, the teams will be in the quarter-finals. If the Blues are still in competition, it is not said that the government does not review its copy to make this event a real return to normal.
