EU raised the issue of canceling visa-free travel – media

Ukraine risks losing visa-free travel with the EU

A number of EU countries expressed dissatisfaction with violations of the rules of visa-free travel for third countries.

The European Union is discussing the possibility of canceling the visa-free regime for Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and the countries of the Western Balkans. It is reported by Radio Liberty.

This issue was raised, according to the publication, due to frequent violations, since citizens of these countries use visa-free travel to illegally reside in the EU and submit frivolous applications for asylum.

It is noted that the corresponding document was released on September 27 during the visit of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in the Western Balkans.

According to him, Germany, France and Italy were disappointed because of the frequent abuse of visa-free travel by the citizens of Albania, Moldova, Ukraine and Serbia.

In addition, it is noted that the number of applications for asylum for citizens of Georgia has increased by more than 50% over the past three months.

In the document, Germany mentioned Moldova as a special case, when from June to August 2019 and from June to August of this year, the increase in refusals to readmission of persons was 429%.

France indicated problems because of the citizens of Albania, Georgia and Serbia.

Belgium complains about Moldova, while the Czech Republic complains about Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

We will remind, at the end of January, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky extended visa-free regime entry into the country and transit through Ukrainian territory for the British.
