Georg Hanauer donated his blood for the 125th time in Eslarn. On this occasion, Hanauer remembers the first donation at school 45 years ago. “At that time I was 23 years old and from then on I made two donations every year.” The Eslarner has firmly booked the two important mandatory dates in the annual calendar to this day. After every blood donation, there was always a snack, and some card lovers were looking forward to an extended and entertaining Schafkopf evening on site. The evening always lasted longer for the carters than the blood donation, so that the BRK ladies always had to politely, but with clear words, ask them to leave. “I kept the certificates from the 10th donation on April 10, 1981 and for the subsequent round blood donations at home and I still have the pins for the first blood donations from bronze to gold,” says Hanauer proudly.
Thanks for the 25th donation also went to Thomas Gebauer at the blood donation appointment in Eslar. The BRK team routinely mastered the overwhelming rush of donors at the most recent appointment, taking into account the Corona guidelines. Organizer Laura Roth, Georg Rauch, Corinna Völkl and Kathrin Werner, together with doctors and the BRK staff, guaranteed that the school would run smoothly.
114 women and men, 3 more than at the last donation, responded to the call. The organizers are always proud when they can greet completely new faces to donate blood. This time ten first-time donors have registered. “It was particularly gratifying that quite a few came this year who have not donated for many years,” added Roth, happy about the motivation.
