Escape from Tarkov player was almost instantly banned for killing a streamer during the broadcast

Battlestate Games is known for “supporting” streamers who stream Escape from Tarkov content. Although it is usually a very pleasant sight, this time it may turn out to be a bit unfortunate. The reason for this was an in-game interaction between a well-known Twitch streamer, Rengawr, and a random player.

In the Forest, the player shot Rengawr and went to loot his body, when he did, he realized that the equipment he found was similar to the equipment of the streamer, and the tokens match the nickname. He logged onto Twitch to check if Rengawr was streaming and turned on just as Rengawr accused him of cheating. In the heat of the quarrel, the streamer stated that the player would be banned from Tarkov within the next 10 minutes due to hacking and cheating. He collected all the necessary information about the player and sent it to someone from BSG.

Most players have the option to submit a report through Battle Eye or any other third party cheat detection software that the game uses, but streamers and content creators get to contact the developers directly, making it much easier to ban a player.

As expected, the player was banned from the game shortly after. The player contacted Rengawr and explained that he wasn’t cheating, and all Rengawr could say was “I think it was just out of sync. So yeah, I just reported it and moved on, that’s all.” Although he acknowledged that the player was not a cheater, the damage had already been done and things were said that shocked the community a bit.

This event shed light on how powerful streamers and “influencers” are and how easily they can get players removed from the game, and the incident caused quite a bit of controversy on the game’s forums.
