Artists from 39 countries want to win the ESC 2021. We have an overview of all ESC candidates for you. Who has the best chance?
Rotterdam – A huge stage and a correspondingly long list of participants – that is what distinguishes the “Eurovision Song Contest” again in 2021. In fact, after a year of forced Corona break, Europe’s traditional music competition is now returning in an almost tried and tested manner to search for the best song on the entire continent. As before, this year some talented artists will gather on the spot to represent their country. During the voting, they all hope to hear the legendary sentence: “12 points go to …” A total of 39 ESC candidates will be heard and seen on May 22, 2021. We have summarized for you which these are and which nation can have the highest hopes of scoring those coveted 12 points several times.
Which countries will compete with their ESC candidates in 2021?
From east to west, from north to south, even as far as Australia, the ESC 2021 resembles a musical trip around the world halfway across the globe. A total of 39 countries are sending their musical hopes to this year’s ESC venue Rotterdam to compete there under their banner. At least the big ESC favorites have a real chance of landing a new hit with their song soon.
With such a large number of participants, with which the ESC comes up once more, it is almost logical that the entire show cannot take place in one evening. Instead, as in previous years, the European song competition is again divided into three rounds – two semi-finals on May 18 and 20 and the grand finale on May 22, 2021. Which candidates from which countries will be shown when, with which songs they will be shown go to the start and who is already traded as a big ESC favorite in advance, you can read in the following overview. If you want to have a say when the first places are awarded, we will explain the voting for the “Eurovision Song Contest” here. In addition, we present our German ESC hope to you Jendrick Sigwart here in portrait again before.
39 countries send their ESC candidates to Rotterdam
The total of 39 ESC candidates are initially divided into 33 semi-finalists and the “Big 5” countries Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The latter are automatically qualified for the final together with the host country Netherlands. The fans there can initially only vote for their future competitors in one of the two semifinal shows. Germany will vote together with Italy and the Netherlands in the first semi-final, while France, the United Kingdom and Spain will be able to cast their votes in the second semi-final.
The ten countries that have received the most points at the end of each of the two shows are finally qualified for the grand finale on May 22, 2021, in which the ESC candidates from the remaining 26 countries can start. Who will start in which semi-finals and with which starting order was already drawn in 2020 or recently determined by the Dutch television broadcaster NPO in coordination with the European Broadcast Union (EBU).

“Eurovision Song Contest” 2021: Who will win the European music competition?
Of course, there is one question that should be of particular concern to all music lovers with a view to all countries and candidates for this year’s “Eurovision Song Contest”: Who will win the traditional, top-class musical show this year? While everyone can of course dare to look into the crystal ball or coffee cups to evaluate the coffee grounds there, the bookmakers have already collected more precise figures: A few days before the big competition, Italy was named as a big ESC favorite. The Mediterranean country has a victory probability of over 20 percent. Continue to be quite high in course France with 19 percent as Malta with 13 percent. In terms of chances of winning, Germany is at the bottom of the list with a probability of less than one percent. The United Kingdom, Australia and the Netherlands are also located there, far from the ESC favorites.
But is that true? This can only be said for sure when the last 12 points in the grand ESC final have been distributed. Until then, speculation can continue. If you want to be there live when the ESC winner is chosen in 2021, you can read up on how to run the European music competition follow on TV and stream can. (lros)
