ES records two other cases; total comes to 150

After two more cases were confirmed, Espírito Santo now has 150 confirmed cases of monkeypox. The information was disclosed this Thursday (15th) by the Undersecretary of State for Health (Sesa).

According to the SESA bulletin, 1,041 suspected cases of the disease have already been reported. Of these, 789 were discarded. In the previous bulletin, released last week, there were 1,014 notifications, with 148 confirmed cases and 769 discarded cases.

Of the current total of cases, only 23 are women. Most of the infected are men. In all, there were 127 positive tests among males.

Most of the cases were registered in Vila Velha (42). The capital follows, Vitória (41), and, in third place, Serra (20). Cariacica (16) and Guarapari (9) also appear in the Metropolitan Region.

Within the state, the municipality of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim has recorded 4 cases, Linhares another 4 and Itapemirim 2 cases. The municipalities of Ibiraçu, Nova Venécia, Pedro Canário, Santa Teresa, São Mateus and Vila Pavão represent one case each.

Patient Reported Symptoms and Signs of Monkeypox:

Patients with the following symptoms are considered suspect cases:

-Rash
– sudden fever
-Headache
-Asthenia
-Sore throat
-Muscular pain
-Adenomegaly
– Sweats/chills
– Arthralgia

Additionally, people with a history of intimate contact with a stranger and/or casual partners in the past 21 days before signs and symptoms appear should be aware. See other important points:

1. Have an epidemiological link to confirmed cases of monkeypox within 21 days prior to the onset of signs and symptoms;

2. History of travel to an endemic country or one with confirmed cases of monkeypox within 21 days prior to symptom onset;

3. have an epidemiological link to persons with a history of travel to an endemic country or a country with confirmed monkeypox cases, within 21 days prior to the onset of signs and symptoms.

If these symptoms occur, and when they are within federal agency constraints, the individual should seek out a Primary Care Facility closest to their residence for care, notification, and investigation of the case.
