Information about Wilczek’s death was provided by journalist Paweł Czado via Twitter. “Sad news has reached me. He died Erwin Wilczek, who with Górnik Zabrze won fifteen trophies. He won the Polish championship nine times and the Polish Cup six times. He was 81 years old. RIP, “he wrote.
Nine titles of the Polish champion
Erwin Wilczek was one of the biggest stars of Górnik Zabrze, when he was second to none on Polish pitches. He represented the club’s colors since 1959 and won the national championship in the first season. In the following years, with the club in Zabrze, he won this trophy eight more times.
“We are saying goodbye to the legendary footballer. A great man, but modest and kind, who did not like publicity, although he was among the best on the pitch. If he played today, he would probably defend the colors of the best clubs in Europe” – it was written on the official website of Górnik Zabrze.
