The president of the Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castro, highlighted this Wednesday that the people spoke again on February 4 because the deputies of Nuevas Ideas continue giving governability to President Nayib Bukele, to consolidate the changes in the country, and sent a clear rejection to the political opposition, which he described as irrelevant.
The deputy president specified that the opposition parties, which do not accept the results of the recent presidential and legislative elections, continue with a clear agenda that opposes what the Salvadoran people decided at the polls.
Likewise, he indicated that as of 2021 the people classified the opposition as irrelevant and in the elections on February 4 they confirmed this. “The FMLN disappears from the Assembly and Nuestro Tiempo disappears as a political party,” he said.
Furthermore, he reiterated that “the previous legislature did not have the confidence of the population. Until we arrived, in 2021, people began to trust the Assembly. Now they have given us a bench of 54 deputies.”
Finally, the president of Congress emphasized that in the recent elections the people did not speak, but rather shouted to continue with governability, a message that the opposition must understand once and for all.
