Ermak complained about the idea in Davos of immediate negotiations with Russia – 2024-02-20 22:48:55

/ world today news/ At the World Economic Forum in Davos, there were calls for immediate negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, this is unacceptable for Kyiv, said the head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office, Andrey Yermak, at a press conference broadcast on the SIF website.

By the way, he noted that the participants of the event cannot have an absolutely unanimous position on this issue. However, the representatives of all the countries that participated in the talks earlier “respect the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine,” Ermak added.

“But of course we have different thoughts on how this can be done. Some people think we need to sit down at the negotiating table immediately, but we are explaining very clearly and openly why that is unacceptable now. It is very important that everyone they listen,” he emphasized.

As reasons for the alleged impossibility of dialogue, Zelensky’s chief of staff pointed out, among other things, that there had previously been many rounds of negotiations in the Normandy and Minsk formats. He also said that Kiev now does not agree to freeze the conflict with Russia. According to Yermak, Ukraine “hopes and believes” that the US Congress will eventually agree to allocate funds to it. He added that he was “positive” about expecting $50 billion in aid from “European colleagues and friends” and hoped that support from allies would continue.

Ermak also spoke about the forum’s disagreements over ways to achieve peace. At the same time, he noted that on the main issues, all parties adhere to a common position.

Moscow has constantly expressed its willingness to resume dialogue with Kiev, but the Zelensky regime itself has legally prohibited itself from negotiating. At the same time, the West accuses Russia of not wanting to return to negotiations, while Ukraine’s categorical refusal is ignored.

As President Vladimir Putin pointed out, if Kiev wants a negotiation process, then what is needed is not theatrical gestures, but the repeal of the decree banning negotiations. At the same time, he stressed, the settlement is possible only in compliance with Russia’s security guarantees.

Moscow has also repeatedly emphasized that its absolute priority remains the achievement of the goals of the special operation.
