Erlan Karin spoke at the UNESCO General Conference

According to the State Counselor, this cooperation contributes to the successful implementation of political, economic, social and humanitarian reforms in Kazakhstan. A number of current initiatives were presented to the attention of the delegates, voiced in the speech of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the second meeting of the National Kurultai in the city of Turkestan and in the Address to the people of Kazakhstan dated September 1, 2023.

“The goal of the reforms carried out in the country is to form a new quality of the nation through the development of education, science and culture,” Erlan Karin emphasized in this context.

The State Advisor noted the importance of UNESCO’s systemic support for the implementation in Kazakhstan of specific projects in the field of protection of cultural and natural heritage, development of education, exact and human sciences, communications and the media.

Speaking from the podium of the Organization, whose mission is to promote peace, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue, Erlan Karin recalled the statement of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the UN General Assembly that all holy books, including the Koran, deserve legal protection from vandalism .

Thanks were expressed to the Member States of the Organization for their support of the recent inclusion of the territories of the Altyn-Emel National Park and the Barsakelmes Nature Reserve on the World Heritage List as part of the transnational site “Turan Temperate Deserts”.

In terms of studying serious climate changes, the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to hold a Regional Climate Summit in Kazakhstan under the auspices of the UN in 2026 was emphasized.

At the end of his speech, Erlan Karin emphasized Kazakhstan’s readiness to develop and strengthen further mutually beneficial cooperation with UNESCO.
