Erick Thohir Reveals Sarinah and Semesco Development Schemes

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed the development plan for Sarinah and Smesco.

He ensured that the two of them would work together to encourage the development of micro, small and medium enterprises ( UMKM).

According to him, Smesco will be a place that focuses on providing training for MSME players, while Sarinah will be a marketing place for MSME products.

“More smesco coaching (training) MSMEs so that their products can be upgraded or upgraded. But we at Sarinah, make sure it is more to marketing, because if the problem of financing has gone well, “said Erick in a virtual press conference for the launch of a special MSME page and application, Monday (17/8/2020).

He said the synergy between Sarinah and Smesco had been agreed between him and the Minister of Cooperatives and UKM, Teten Masduki. Ministry of BUMN and the Kemenkop UKM have signed the cooperation.

“Working with Pak Teten we did, to ensure not only the care is maintained, but also continue to open greater access to SMEs,” he explained.

Erick stated, encouraging the development of MSMEs is a must and partisanship of BUMN in this sector. This is because MSMEs have the largest portion in supporting the national economy, so they need support from many parties.

“So it’s not just a lip service or a discourse, but this is a necessity and partisanship so that conditions for MSMEs and ultra-micro can be even better,” he said.

Previously, Erick revealed that the synergy of the two at the same time erased the stigma that saw competition between Sarinah and Smesco. In fact, both are useful for the businesses of domestic MSME players.

“We want to synergize Sarinah and Smesco, don’t each compete like that, why do we compete, both have the government,” he said in a virtual discussion, Sunday (16/8/2020).
