Eric Abidal Becomes the Second Victim of the Barcelona Reshuffle

KOMPAS.com – Barcelona officially terminated the contract Eric Abidal from the position of Team Sports Director.

This news was conveyed by Barcelona through their official website on Tuesday (18/8/2020) evening WIB.

“Barcelona and Eric Abidal have reached an agreement to terminate the contract which joins both parties,” read a club statement.

“The club publicly thanks Eric Abidal for the professionalism, commitment, dedication and the positive nature of his relationship with all aspects of the Blaugrana family,” the statement continued.

Abidal, who was a former Barcelona from 2007-2013, was appointed Sports Director in July 2018.

The man from France has become the latest victim of an overhaul of the Blaugrana squad.

Previously, Barcelona deposed coach Quique Setien on Tuesday morning WIB.

“This is the first decision in the framework of a major restructuring of the first team, which will be taken from the agreement between the current technical secretariat and the new coach, which will be announced in the next few days,” wrote Barcelona announcing Setien’s departure.
