Xiaomi unveils a transparent TV at 6,000 euros – Geeko

Today, display quality is no longer the main aspect on which modern televisions differ. From now on, televisions are real
decorative elements full-fledged, which is why manufacturers innovate both in substance and in form. And on this point,
Xiaomi just hit a big blow by revealing the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition, a transparent television.

The latter uses TOLED technology (transparent OLED) which, as its name suggests, makes the panel YOU ARE transparent. This technology does not prevent it from displaying very deep blacks, according to the Chinese manufacturer. With a diagonal of 55 inches, the TV displays with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, 10-bit colors that can generate up to 1.07 billion combinations with a response time of one millisecond, assures Xiaomi.

A first in the trade

If it is not the first television to use TOLED technologyLG had already done it in 2016 -, the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition will be the first to be marketed to the general public. Moreover, beyond the technological aspect, one can still wonder if such a television has its place in a living room or a bedroom “The images it displays seem to float in the air, merging the virtual and the real to bring an unprecedented visual experience, ”says Xiaomi.

In addition to its transparent panel, the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition is somewhat disappointing since it is actually only a Full HD TV displaying 1920 pixels by 1080.

This work of art, as Xiaomi describes it, seems above all to be a product to highlight the technical progress of the manufacturer, but also to celebrate the 10 years of the brand. Unfortunately, the TV is only intended for the Chinese market. It will be marketed from August 16 at a price of 49,999 yuan, or 6,130 euros.
